The short story…

The short story is that we’re long-time friends who cut our teeth in the industry long enough that we saw an opportunity in Chicago; we could give people award-winning quality food, cooked in the sanctity of our own personal kitchens, on our terms.

We love cooking for people, and we love the opportunities and experience the restaurant industry has provided us, and now we can do it on our schedule! Win-win for everyone.

After significant roles as Chef de Cuisine at renowned Chicago establishments such as Longman and Eagle, Dusek's Board and Beer, The Promontory, and City Mouse at The Ace Hotel, Chef Matthew Ryan is now owner-operator of CMR Events and Managing Partner of Good Mood Food. When not in the kitchen, Chef Ryan enjoys spending quality time with his family, hitting the slopes for skiing, exploring nature through hiking, walleye fishing, and paddling a canoe.

Charlie’s extensive work experience includes renowned establishments such as Longman and Eagle and Blackberry Farm. You may have seen Charlie slinging hot dogs from his famed Chicago style hot dog cart that operated in Portland, Oregon and Santa Cruz, California. In his free time, Chef Funk enjoys cycling, hiking, road tripping and throwing a ball for his dog, Bowie.
